TAKE A STEP TO HEALTHIER LIVING
The council along with Paths for All, as part of the West Lothian on the Move Physical Activity Strategy are promoting the Put Your West Foot Forward Initative from October - December 2011.
Just 30 minutes walking a day can make a dramatic difference to your health and wellbeing - and what better way to get out and about than by enjoying beautiful scenery and sharing the experience with a like-minded group of people.
Whether you are an experienced walker or a total beginner, each year West Lothian Council organises Walking Week which offers you the chance to explore beautiful landscape, learn about the area's history, make new friends and take some important strides towards improving your health.
Best of all, the guided walks and activities are absolutely free! Walks cover a range of times throughout the day, so simply choose your walk and go. Here is an example of the walk from our last walking week: Walking Week Programme 2011.
The week was arranged by both local and national organisations in partnership with West Lothian on the Move, aimed to encourage inactive people to participate in moderate intensity activities in order to improve their health and wellbeing.
Jen Johnston, West Lothian on the Move Physical Activity Co-ordinator is encouraging residents of all ages to join in: "The West Lothian Walking Week is a great way to be active, feel good and enjoy the outdoors!".
