The Council has a Protecting Vulnerable Groups Policy which outlines the council’s responsibility in ensuring that vulnerable client groups are protected whilst at the same time ensuring there is no discrimination against individuals when they are applying for posts within the authority. The Council will seek a PVG Check when appointments are being made to positions which involve regulated work with children or protected adults as defined by the PVG (Scotland) Act 2007. These are appointments in respect of which the council would wish to ask exempt questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA). These checks will assist the council to determine an individual’s suitability for undertaking regulated work. Where a PVG check is deemed necessary for a position, it will be made clear in all relevant documentation that a PVG check will be requested in the event that an individual is made a conditional offer.
