Councillor Carl JohnCouncillor John (SNP) is the Local Area Committee Chairperson and is a member of the, West Lothian Leisure Advisory Committee and the Culture and Leisure Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel.

His council appointments to outside bodies include the Central Scotland Forest Trust, Edinburgh & Lothians Racial Equality Council, West Lothian Twinning Association, Lowland Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association, National Association of Councillors, Pentland Hills Regional Park Advisory Group and the Pentland Hills Regional Park Joint Committee.
