Adult and Community Learning and Development

 

The Community Learning and Development Service in West Lothian is part of Cultural Services in Education Services.

What we do:

  • We provide learning opportunities for adults, local groups, communities and young people.

How we do it:

  • 10 learning centres offering computer facilities and training
  • Youth clubs, international exchanges and support groups for young people , with young people
  • Support young people in developing their own ideas and thinking and specific projects that young people are involved in
  • Work with young people to develop their core skills
  • Training for voluntary organisations and groups on, e.g.: child protection; the roles of committee members
  • Support Management Committees to develop their expertise and knowledge
  • Run  adult classes on a wide range of topics
  • Help adults improve their reading, writing and numbers
  • Run lip-reading classes for people who have hearing difficulties
