Weight Limits
There are some 742 bridges located throughout West Lothian. Of these, 4 currently have weight restrictions in place.
The restrictions aim to:
- reduce danger to pedestrians and other road users
- prevent further damage to the structure
Procedures for Implementation
- Restrictions are subject to a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) and the associated procedures.
- Regulatory signs are erected on site to give effect to the TRO and to assist the police in carrying out its enforcement but they need to be backed up by advisory signing giving early warnings to drivers that a particular route is restricted.
